Obituary for Inez Parks-Hicks-Oliver Inez Parks-Hicks-Oliver was born to Mattie and Charles Parks on September 16, 1920, in Noxubee County, Mississippi. She departed this life on June 24, 2024, at the age of 103, in Grandview, MO. Inez was preceded in death by her father, Charles Parks, her mother, Mattie Parks, her husband, Rev. Ecclesiastes Oliver, and her daughter Valeria Lynn Hicks, and numerous sisters and brothers. She is survived by her grandson, Toby Linn Hicks, three great-grandchildren Dominique, Zaniya, and Ziona Hicks, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Like numerous African Americans, Inez left Mississippi and migrated to Omaha, Nebraska at the young age of 20. She worked for a Jewish family, before working for Wilson meat packing company. After this she worked for as an elevator operator. Then, with the help of her brother, she got a job with Northwestern Bell as a phone operator. After forty years of working for Northwestern Bell, Inez retired in 1984. Inez Oliver, was a strong woman of faith who loved her family, loved her church, and was vocal about telling others of their need for Jesus Christ. Over the last twenty years the longing of her heart was to go “home” to be with the Lord and her loved ones who had gone on before her. Having been a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Omaha, NE for more than 60 years, nothing got her more excited than to talk about the Lord. Inez will be greatly missed. But her life of faith and love for her family will live on in all those who knew her and loved her. Rest in the presence of the Lord, Inez. He loved you and gave himself for you. For precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Visitation will be Saturday June 29th, from 12 noon to 1pm at Braman Mortuary at 1702 N. 72nd St, Omaha, NE 68114. Then there will be a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery 7909 Mormon Bridge Rd. Omaha, NE 68152, from 1:30 to 1:50pm. Following the service, there will be a repass at Mount Moriah Baptist Church from 2pm-3pm.
