Inez J. Andrews

March 26, 1916 — August 24, 2015

Inez was born on March 26, 1916 to Caroline and Edward Johnson in Dundee, MS. Inez had four siblings, Eugene, Clara, Abraham and Edward. Inez was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and her daughter, Mrs. Wanda Graham. Inez completed her formal education at Horse Mann in Gary, IN. She married Mr. Luther Andrews and later divorced. As a single parent, Inez moved to Chicago, IL where she raised her five children with love and discipline. She was employed by the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad. The work she was required to do was labor intensive, nevertheless, she was a determined and self-willed employee realizing that her family depended on her. She worked nights coming home each morning to make sure her children were fed and dressed to impress and off to school. Inez’s tenure with the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad spanned 26 years at which time she retired. After living in Chicago and Gary for many years, she relocated to Omaha, NE. Inez leaves to cherish her loving memory four sons: Mr. Melvin Andrews (Jacqueline) of Omaha, NE, Mr. Granville J. Johnson (Birgit) of Prince George, British Columbia, Mr. Alfred N. Andrews of Milwaukee, WI and Mr. Michael R. Andrews, of Omaha, NE, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of family members and friends. Inez was a family oriented person, as her favorite saying denotes, “Together we stand, divided we fall.” Inez was affectionately called; “Grandma” by many who came in contact with her nurturing demeanor. Inez was known to be an extremely clean and organized person. Often, returning home to notice minor shifts of a hanging picture or altered furniture, meticulously adjusting them back into place. She liked things “just so”. Inez’s dedication was not only exemplified in her family and on the job but also in her faith. Inez dedicated her life to the Grand Creator, Jehovah God (Psalms 83:18, 24:1) on August 17, 1973. She lived a life that demonstrated one very important quality for all of Jehovah’s servants, humility (James 4:6). Her favorite scripture continues to resonate in our hearts. In fact, at age 99, she could still recite it: “Sym’eon has related thoroughly how God for the time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name.” (Acts 15:14). Mom/Grandma loved Jehovah with every fiber in her body and was proud to be called by His name.
