Howard D. Spanton. age 82, passed away on February 23, 2019. Howard was born in Blair, NE on January 8, 1937 to Dwaine and Eva (Reynolds) Spanton. He graduated from Grand Island High School and after graduation he traveled to California to apply to art school. He worked at Aero Jet as a draftsman and then Anja Engineering Corp. He and his best friend, Jack, rented a cottage together. He enjoyed his sports car and hanging at the beach, surfing. He returned to Grand Island, NE where he met and married Rogene McClure on May 14, 1959. To this union was born four children; Greg, Vicki, Sheri and Christi. His professions over the decades included sales manager for Sherwin Williams, truck driver for Pamida and over the road independent truck driver. He truly loved being a trucker and traveling all over the United States and you could tell this when he would tell stories from his time on the road. His love for his art always present, he used it to explore the world of house renovations. In retirement he renewed his passion for his art, dabbled in projects, took some time to fish and meticulously tended his yard. He will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his ex-wife; Rogene Spanton, children; Greg (Michelle) Spanton of Lawrenceburg, IN, Vicki (Robert) Donovan of Omaha, NE, Sheri (Ron) Schulz of Modale, IA, Christi (Mark) Miller of Papillion, NE, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great friends. Howard was preceded in death by his mother and step-dad, father and sister. Memorial service Thursday, Feb 28, 2019 at 11 am with family receiving friends from 10-11 am, all at Braman Mortuary, 1702 N 72nd St, Omaha, NE. Memorials will be directed by the family.
