McKay, Howard W. Jr.

Howard William McKay was born December 23, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN to parents, Howard and Helen McKay. Howard had finished the sixth grade when the family moved to White Bear Lake, MN for a short time and then moved to Milltown, WI. He attended Milltown HIgh and during his senior year, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After boot camp, he was assigned to the Nerus, a submarine tender. While on the Pacific, they saw the first testing of the atomic bomb. The last one and a half years of duty, he was stationed on a naval supply depot on The Admiral Islands. After discharge, he went back to Milltown, working as a mechanic. In 1948 Howard married Dolores Christensen, a high school classmate. They lived in Minneapolis and Howard worked at Western Electric. The Korean War, in 1950, brought Howard back to the Navy for just under two years.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen McKay and his brother, Keith.
Leaving to mourn him are his wife, Dolores L. McKay; children, Joan Lee (Bill), Susan Kowalske (Dave), Douglas McKay, Rich McKay (Jean), Mike McKay (Deborah); nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
