Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of February 6, 2024. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska and was the youngest of three children.
Helen was an avid sports fan, especially enjoyed cheering on the Huskers. She also loved music, traveling, reading and interior decorating. She was an active member of the Lutheran church in which ever town she resided. Helen loved Jesus with all of her heart, soul and strength. She participated in the church choir and taught Sunday school. Helen was also a member of the ToastMasters Club in Kansas City where she won various awards.
Helen graduated from Benson High School in 1942. After high school Helen worked for General Line Distribution of Owens-Illinois, Inc. as a Customer Sales Coordinator. She was transferred from Omaha to Kansas City in 1969 and then to Toledo, Ohio in 1980. There she was promoted to Supervisor, General Line Distributors & Import Export Sales. Helen spent her retirement years back in Omaha. She stayed active and busy at the Lutheran Church of the Master in bible study, choir and all senior activities.
Helen spent her final years at Remington Heights Retirement Community. There she stayed active in bible study as well as music activities. She enjoyed meeting and welcoming new residents.
Helen was at peace with her faith as she neared the end and was looking forward to going home to her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mathilde Madsen; brother Verne (Joyce) Madsen; brother John Madsen; niece Jan Madsen; and nephew Richard Madsen.
She is survived by her grand-nephew, Gordon (Ann) Wehner, great-grand-nephew Axton Wehner; nephew Eric Madsen; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Remington Heights and AseraCare Hospice for caring for Helen during the final part of her life.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, followed by a Celebration of Helen’s Life at 10:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Master located at 2617 S. 114th Street, Omaha 68144. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Burial service to follow the luncheon.
