November 12, 1946 — August 24, 2021

Helen Louise Kaven (Hamilton) was a daughter, Sister, Cousin, Aunt, Wife, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Leader. She loved her family and worked hard to raise them. She showed us all how to live life to the fullest. Even in the last months of her life within hospice care she showed us how to get up, get dressed and go to a family wedding, go out for dinner with family & friends, and even drove herself to get her nails done for the family wedding. Helen had a great love for the Okoboji waters. She loved spending time at the lake with her family. She even had plans to visit Okoboji this Aug 23rd, 2021. Helen as a child grew up with her two brothers Paul & Drew Hamilton and her sister Beth. The Hamilton family grew up next to their grandparents, Grandma & Grandpa Olmsted. The Olmsted’s had farm land and grew crops for their Feed & Grain store in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Helen stated she remembers having to pick and pod peas etc. Helen said at one-point picking and podding peas was not her favorite thing to do, and she always talked about the love she had when walking over to Grandma & Grandpa Olmsted’s house to visit them. Helen as a young mother would often take her kids over to see the Grandparents Hamilton & Olmsted. She must have really loved visiting home. One of her kids remembers Grandpa Hamilton state “I don’t know how she gets here and back to the Kaven home in Florence [Nebraska] on gas fumes.” Some of the Kaven kids even remember during their drives home to Florence Helen (Mom) saying “I hope we don’t run out of gas!” Helen also had a great love for flowers. In springtime, you would see her planting flowering plants in her flower beds around the house. Helen had a great love for her children. She loved her girls Christy & Little Heather Ann. You would see Helen taking her girls to Aunt Donna’s dance studio for their dance lessons. Helen as a wife and mother of five worked hard in and out of the house.Through her love and dedication, she made the house a home. She showed her children and family how to live and love life in good times and in bad. Danny & Helen were married at a young age. They were married on July 2nd, 1965. From the love of Danny & Helen came 5 children Danny Jr, Davy, Christy, Heath & Heather. Matthew 11 28-30 Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourself. John 14 1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Danny Lee Kaven Sr Danny Lee Kaven Sr. was a Son, Brother, Cousin, Uncle, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, head of the Family, Teacher, and a friend to all. He worked hard for his family. He loved his family and handed out tough love when needed. Danny as a young boy spent a lot of time outside building go-karts and working in the yard for his mom and dad. He said he liked working and helping his Dad. As a young teenager, he was known to bring some old cars home to work on. The one you would hear about the most was the 56 Old’s convertible. Danny at the time was studying art at an art school in Omaha, NE. He enjoyed painting and drafting. He dreamed of becoming a commercial artist. As kids, our house was filled with some of his paintings. In the 1970’s, he was known for painting oils on black velvet. His friends bought most of the black velvet paintings back then. Shortly after marriage, he started working with his father Harley Kaven. At the time, Harley worked on furnaces. At some point, Air Conditioning became a big thing. Danny started to learn the “ins and outs” of air conditioning. So, with Harley and Danny’s hard work, they created a well-known company in the Omaha area, Harley & Son Furnace & Air Conditioning. Danny was a man of many trades, from design, constructing a big two-story barn in his backyard, and remodeling homes to name some of his many talents. He would always lend a hand and go to his son’s and daughter's homes to help in remodels of their houses. He also liked working on old Hot Rod cars with his sons, and he enjoyed driving the Hot Rods to car shows to show them off. Danny was always eager to help and always shared his talents. He was a great teacher to his sons and daughters. If you had a question, he would always be there to help or answer your questions. Danny loved Christmas, and as a man that loved to give, it made perfect sense. After Christmas as kids, we remember him stating to Mother, “Let’s just leave the Christmas decorations up”. He also had a great love for his grandkids.Looking back on family pictures, you will see his grandkids all around him. Life for Danny was not always easy, but as a great father/teacher, he taught us how to take a fall, brush yourself off, and keep going. An earthly Father made in the image and likeness of God, showed us how to love your Family & Friends and how to live with respect for all.
