ARMBRUST, Harry W. 10/28/1935 – 5/28/2020 Harry Wallace Armbrust, 84, passed away on the 28th day of May 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. He was born on October 28th, 1935 in Marysville, KS to William and Theresa (Rose) Kotnik Armbrust. Harry grew up in Louisville, NE. He graduated from Louisville Senior High School in Louisville, NE in 1954. After high school he joined the Marines in 1954 and served for 4 years. He served in Hawaii and Japan. He was discharged in 1958, achieving the rank of Drill Sargent. Attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he received a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in education and was a part of the defensive linebacker coaching staff for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.He began teaching Physical Education at Clay Center and later taught with the Omaha Public Schools until his retirement in 1996. Harry married JoAnn Kuthan Armbrust in 1961 in Omaha, NE. They were happily married for 39 years until JoAnn’s death in 2001. Harry remarried in 2004 to Beverly Otzel-Armbrust and was happily married until the time of his death. He enjoyed coaching, square dancing, playing chess and woodworking. He received many awards as coach and led his Clay Center football team to the class D state championship, as well as the teams he coached at Beveridge Magnet Middle School won multiple District Championships. Harry was preceded in death by both of his parents, his Wife JoAnn, and his brother William. Harry is survived by his wife Beverly of North Platte, NE; his son Tim Armbrust (Jan) of Glendale, AZ. His daughter Elizabeth Hansen (Jeff)of Omaha, NE; his brothers Jerry Armbrust (Janey) of Omaha, NE, James Armbrust (Rita) of Payson, AZ, Hank (Pam) of Omaha; Sister Rosie Meisinger (Ron) of Sugarland, TX, sister Stella Zymola of West Jordan, UT, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
