Harold D. Starks, Jr. of Springfield, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. He was surrounded by family. He was born in Omaha on March 19, 1960 to Harold and Shirley Starks. Harry graduated from Omaha Holy Name High School in 1978. He was employed at Bergan Mercy Hospital and worked closely beside his dad in Environmental Services. He left Bergan Mercy after 22 years and started with Architectural Flooring. He was currently employed with Floors, Inc. In his younger years he was a member of the Omaha Round Up Saddle Club, showing horses, riding in parades and participating in Little Britches Rodeos. Harry’s main event was bull riding. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a lector and greeter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For more than 20 years he volunteered to be the official starter for the Elementary School Track and Field Day. Harry had a generous spirit. Harry was very knowledgeable and could fix anything. A friend said, “If it was man-made….Harry could fix it” He helped numerous family members and friends with various projects, he repaired cars, roofs and various type of flooring. He liked to play golf, and in his younger years played softball. Most of all he loved watching his kids at their various activities and sporting events. Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harold, Sr. and Shirley M. Ross, father-in-law Robert Brestel. He is survived by his wife Teresa, children Samantha (Dillon) Gartner, Sean, Seth and Sabrina Starks, grandson Lane Gartner. Siblings Michael Thompson, Edward and Michaela Starks, nephew Nicholas (Tara) Starks, Aunt Helen and Uncle Roland. Also survived by mother-in-law Joyce Brestel, sister-in-law Rhonda (Joe) Haas, brothers-in-law, Mike (Jan), Ron (Teresa), Rod (Janel), Steve (Diane), Jim (Nancy) and Doug (Michelle), and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation with family will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, July 16th with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 100 9th Street, Springfield, NE. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Memorials to the family for future designation. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
