BAKER, Harlen R. “Red” 7/31/1942 – 7/24/2017 Age 74 years of Omaha Harlen Ray Baker, known to most as "Red," was born on July 31, 1942 in Auburn, Ne. He enjoyed sports, reading and the outdoors. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1960. After graduation, Red enlisted into the U.S. Air Force where he served from 1960-1964. He met his soon-to-be wife, Patty, in the fall of 1977 at Metro Tech College. It was love at first sight! They were married on March 16, 1979 and have been together since that fall of '77. Professionally, Red worked for Burroughs as a computer engineer for many years then worked at Nebraska Furniture Mart for 20 years in the same field. Red was a huge fan of Nebraska Cornhuskers Football and spent many fall weekends enjoying games with Patty at Memorial Stadium. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, watching sports, spending time with family, especially Patty and his Grandsons, and of course computer-related activities & games from Atari to X-Box! He will be missed greatly by family and friends. Survived by Wife of 39 years Patricia “Patty”; Daughter Melanie Szymczak & husband Matt; Beloved grandsons Mason & Maxwell; Mother-in-law Maxine Selberg; Brother Frank Baker; Brenda, Becky & Brian Baker; Many other relatives & friends.
