Greg Allan Latham, aged 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was born on January 29, 1948, in Omaha NE to Jack M and Ruth (Judy) Latham and spent most of his life in the Springfield area. Greg graduated from Platteview High School in 1966 and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln. On November 22, 1980, Greg was united in marriage to Karen Kritenbrink, which resulted in being related to half the county! Greg was an Insurance Adjuster most of his professional career and also a Real Estate Agent. He was very active in the Springfield community having served on the City Council, the Jay-Cees, Sons of the Legionnaires, and the Masonic Lodge. He was also the secretary for the Gretna bowling league for many, many years. One of Greg’s favorite pastimes was fishing, and he and Karen spent many vacations in Minnesota doing just that! He was also an avid gardener, always growing more that they could eat so he could share the bounty. Hunting, bowling, reading, jigsaw and crosswords puzzles were also on his list of favorites. Greg was a whiz at Wheel of Fortune and he could find morel mushrooms when nobody else could. Card games were a constant in his life from a very young age, and he played with his friends at the Legion Hall as recently as last week. When he was able, he played golf regularly and the enjoyed watching it on TV when he retired from the game. He truly enjoyed getting together with friends and family, sharing a couple of beers, just visiting and solving the problems of the world. Greg’s health problems began with cancer and from then on he suffered setbacks and several surgeries – one health issue after another. Not once in 18 years did he complain. He fought bravely every day until he just couldn’t anymore. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ruth (Judy) Latham, father-in-law and mother-in-law Leo and Erma (Post) Kritenbrink, nieces Kari Williams and Kimberly (Williams) Beasley; nephew Joseph Todero and brother-in-law Walt Kassube.
