HOWARD, Grant K.
5/19/1981 - 11/1/2022
Grant Kindrick Howard was unexpectedly taken from us on November 1, 2022 at the age of 41 after an infection led to sudden heart failure. His family and friends lost an amazing soul.
Born in Ogden, UT on May 19, 1981, Grant had opportunities to live in various cities as his father, Paul Howard, worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He especially loved his time in Denver since he got to ski every weekend with his buddies. He eventually landed in Omaha when he was a senior and finished out high school at Westside. Soon enough, he met his future wife, Alison Lemek, at a party. At the time, he was on crutches after fracturing his foot while heroically chasing down a shoplifter for his then employer, Hy-Vee. His amazing storytelling of the event and future plans to become a "rockstar" were enough to convince Alison he was the one, thus their love story began. Grant pursued his dream of playing electric guitar in his band, Jaeger Fight, and garnered the stage at an eclectic array of dive bars in Omaha.
Grant and Alison were married in 2009 and had two incredible boys, Felix (age 7) and Samuel (age 5). When Felix was born, Grant made his favorite career move by taking on the job of stay-at-home dad while pursuing a degree in cybersecurity. He was even better at this job than being a rockstar and gave his boys every part of himself. If you knew Grant, you got his same love and attention. He gave selflessly to all who knew him—any chance he got. Most of his friends "owe him one," which he never intended to collect. He was skilled and creative in many things including cooking, gardening, woodworking, music, home remodeling, and automotive work. He loved being outdoors camping, hiking, and playing sports with his kids. His true joy was his family and friends and making their lives just a little easier when he could.
Grant is survived by his immediate family, Alison, Felix, and Sam. He is also survived by his mother, Susan (Denny) Hopkinson, his father, Paul (Suzy) Howard, brother, Macks (Brittany) Howard, sister-in-law, Abby (Luke) Parsons, nephews, Max, Gus and Bo, and grandmothers, Maryann Hatfield, and Joan Howard. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Grant Howard, Art Wachs, and Allen Hatfield.
Grant left us all too young. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Grant can be made to support the family during this challenging time.
To donate, you can use Venmo: @Alison-Howard-41 or drop off cards at the service or forward to the family.
Most importantly, please pass on Grant’s legacy of doing a solid for a friend in need, playing with your children with reckless abandon and loving authentically every step of the way.
A Celebration of Grant's Life will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 10:30am, with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service, all at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel)
