Moseke, Gerald J.

3/6/1939 - 8/27/2023

Jerry was born in Cedar Rapids, Ne to Joseph & Marie Moseke on March 6th, 1939. Jerry attended Norfolk Junior College where he played basketball. Later he joined the army and was a member of the Army Basketball team. He then moved to Lincoln, Ne where he met his wife, Florence. In the early years of their marriage Jerry worked fulltime while attending UNL. They were happily married for 60 years and just celebrated this milestone on August 17th, 2023. Jerry had three daughters and eventually five grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa and did not miss a single important event in his family’s lives. He was their cheerleader, their teacher, their playmate and local repair man. He was extremely proud of his family and spoke of them so often that his friends felt as though they knew them.

Jerry was employed at Kelloggs for 33 years and served on the credit union board of directors as well as a member of the Omaha retiree committee. He recently received an honorary award for his commitment and service to the Kelloggs Retiree Cornhusker Chapter. He was so proud of this achievement. Kellogg's retirees remember Jerry for his many Halloween Costumes, his smile and his great sense of humor.

A sports enthusiast, Jerry spent a lifetime competing in a variety of sports. Most notably he played basketball and competed in the Senior Olympics. Jerry also enjoyed golf, running, baseball and throwing the shot put and discus. He loved family gatherings while watching sporting events with good food.

He was an incredibly strong man and often left his family and friends dumbfounded by his brute strength. He had an even stronger sense of faith. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and would be so happy that you are here now to celebrate his life.

Jerry is survived by wife Florence Moseke, Daughters, Cheryl Moseke, Lynn Woodford (Walter Woodford), Christina Preuss (Dave Simmons), Grandchildren, Nate Woodford, Nicole Woodford (Derek Formanek), Kiersten Preuss, Kylee Preuss and Abby Moseke

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, Sept. 5th at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church. Private burial at Omaha Omaha National Cemetery.
