Gaylord “Andy” Jean Anderson passed away on February 12, 2023 at the age of 82 in Omaha, Nebraska. Andy was born on May 29, 1940 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He went to Central High School and then enlisted in the Navy from June 1958 until June 1962. He served on the U.S.S. Chilton (APA-38) where he traveled to Italy, France, Spain, Greece, and Cuba. Upon return, he attended Mankato State College. He went on to work for several corporations including Gamble Robertson and Liquid Carbonic as a truck driver, Falk Corporation, and Hormel Foods, before opening Andy’s Corner Bar in Uehling, Nebraska. He enjoyed having a place that people could enjoy live music, dancing, and prime rib specials. Andy met the love of his life, Linda, at a roller-skating rink in high school. It was love at first sight and they married on March 7, 1959. They had 3 children and had celebrated 63 years together. An avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan, Andy loved cheering on his teams. His favorite days were on the golf course, hunting pheasants and deer, fishing, or cruising around in his “high-tech” blue Ford Ranger. Andy is survived by his wife: Linda Lou (Iverson) Anderson; children: David (Sherri) Anderson, Debbie (Darrell) Uttecht, Dennis (Michele) Anderson; grandchildren: Daniel Uttecht, Caitlin (Adam) Schmit, Delynn Uttecht, Carter (Brittany) Anderson; and great-grandchild Hallie Schmit. He is preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Florence Anderson, and his eight siblings. He will be remembered as a fun-loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather, and as the Walmart greeter who received the most smiles and gave the most stickers. Andy will be honored in a celebration of life on February 16, 2023. Visiting hours are from 5-7pm at Braman Mortuary in Omaha, Nebraska. Internment will be at Omaha National Cemetery following a private ceremony. Memorial donations should be directed to the Nebraska chapter of Alzheimer’s Association to aide in Alzheimer’s research.
