Gary E. Schiebel

Gary Schiebel was born July 22, 1945 in Butler, PA. The oldest of five children born to Edward and Mary. Gary grew up in a small farmhouse in rural PA and graduated from Knoch High School. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and stationed in places such as Okinawa and Greenland. Prior to his honorable discharge from the Air Force he met his bride, Jeannie Tiefenthaler whom he married on August 23, 1969. Computers were his first love and he had a successful career working for Unisys at Global Weather at Offutt Air Force Base for 35 years. Gary and Jeannie had 2 children, Dawne and Jason.Gary was known as Mr. Fix-it and duct tape was his best friend. He built his dream dome from the ground up on 5 acres in the country.Gary was the first person to offer help no matter the time of day, no matter what was needed. He enjoyed the yearly hunting trip he would take up to Turkey Gulch with his good buddy George. Later in life Gary treasured his 5 grandchildren all of whom made him proud in their own way. After they moved to Springfield he became active in the local American Legion becoming Finance Officer. Gary enjoyed gardening, cooking, woodworking, a good card game, and a lively political discussion over a stiff adult beverage. He was preceded in death by brothers Perry and Zane Schiebel; Gary is survived by his Wife of 50 years, Jeannie Schiebel; Daughter Dawne (John) Zagurski; Son Jason (Tasha) Schiebel; Grandchildren: Conner, Chase, Claire, Kate, Jase; Brother Dale (Hope) Schiebel; Sister Kay (Larry) Neff; Sister-in-law Lisa Schiebel. Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 from 3-5:00pm, with a 5:00pm Wake Service, All at St. Joseph Catholic Church (100 9th St. Springfield, NE) Funeral Mass: Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at 10:00am at the Church Interment: Omaha National Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Legion Post #143 Braman Mortuary –Southwest Chapel 6505 S. 144 St. Omaha, NE68137 402-895-3400
