Garry Lee Lentz

September 21, 1954 — December 27, 2023

Garry Lee Lentz, 69, of Louisville, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Survivors include his wife Patricia, to whom he was married to for 46 years. He met her at Dover AFB, Delaware, where both were stationed in the Air Force and worked in shops next to each other in the same 436th Avionics squadron. Together, they had 3 children: John, Hans (now deceased), and Christina and 3 grandchildren: Charlie, Isaiah, and Grace.

Garry was born and raised in Kentucky and lived there the majority of his life. He loved to collect old vacuum tube radios, rocks, vinyl records, coins, and comics. His first car as a teenager was a 1957 Ford station wagon and he bought 2 of them just prior to retirement. He relished using his John Deere tractors on his Kentucky acreage and never went anywhere without wearing his green John Deere hat.

Garry worked 28 years for General Electric in Ohio as an electrical engineer, which included demanding but interesting work in places like Israel and at Edwards AFB in California. Upon retirement, he enjoyed watching and cheering for his grandchildren in their various sports games here in Nebraska. Garry was proud of his long growing beard. He was known for his clever quips thought up just in the spur of the moment.
