Frederick A. Collins Sr. was born June 3rd 1955 to Alonzo Collins Sr. and Hattie May Collins (Green). He gave his life to Christ in his teenage years. Fred was a hard-working man who took great pride in his family. As a single father, he raised his three children. He also helped raise his siblings who continue to admire him as a disciplinarian and a present father-figure.
He graduated from Technical High School in 1973 and received an associate degree in information technology from Iowa Western Community College in 1975. He recently attended his 50th high school class reunion. He married Kimberlee Fountain in 1977 and to this union were welcomed their three children Sheritta, Fred Jr., and Rashon. After that union ended, he met and married Lena Steele in 1993 and welcomed their only child Ashley.
He was hired at Union Pacific in the post office in 1977 and worked his way up to Corridor Manager for the Chicago area. He retired from UP in 2013. In his retirement, he was a long-haul driver for various companies, which he loved because he could see the country and meet lots of people. He enjoyed working on his cars, camping, and fishing. He also relished riding his motorcycle. He was also very social and enjoyed Chicago Stepping. More recently, he enjoyed hosting family gatherings whether at his home or at Cunningham Lake in his camper.
He was preceded in death by his father Alonzo Collins Sr., and his mother Hattie May Collins (Green), his siblings: Eltor Rahn, Patricia Neal, Alonzo Collins, Jr., Ricky Collins, Sr., and grandson, Rashon Collins Jr.
Survived by children: Sheritta Strong (Damon), Frederick A. Collins, Jr., Rashon Collins (Vanessa), Ashley Collins. siblings: Rosezerian Jackson-Griffith (Jerry), Jannie Collins, William Collins Sr. (Ophelia), Miriam Wallace, LeDora Stallworth (Leon), Felicia Bryson (Harry), Solomon Collins, Elijah Collins (Quanet), LaDonna Sanders, and Tabitha Collins. Grandchildren: Mason and Mynor (Sheritta and Damon), Jordynn, Myles, Quentin, and Denzel (Rashon and Vanessa), Fred Collins III also known as Tre (Fred Jr), Braeden (Ashley). And a host of nieces and nephews. Special cousin: Kenny Green.
