Kelly, Evelyn "Joan" Evelyn “Joan” Kelly was born in Salem, Nebraska on February 10, 1933 to John and Hazel Sheehan.She attended grade school at the Country School in Salem, graduated from Falls City Sacred Heart High School in 1950 and St. Catherine’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.After graduation Joan worked at the hospital in Falls City and then moved to Omaha. She married Henry Kelly on June 17, 1961 at St. Theresa’s in Omaha, NE. Joan was a devoted wife, mother of 7 children, grandmother of 18 grandchildren and friend to many.She worked as a RN in long term care communities and as a private duty nurse.Joan raised her kids with patience and a quick wit.She loved to spend time with children and grandchildren. She and Henry loved to go out to eat, travel and shop together.Joan liked to bake and her grandkids loved her chocolate chip cookies. She also liked to garden, listen to music, collect recipes, attend Mass and loved a good cup of coffee.Joan was caring, patient, kind, had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile.She has been described by many as a genuine lady. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Hazel Sheehan and sisters Jean Dunn and Betty Schawang. Survivedbyhusbandof59years,Henry;Children:Cathy(Neal) Stepanek, Sheila (Mike) Schartz, Mary (Randy) Kelly-John-son,Joan(Pat)Wonder,John(Jenny)Kelly,Kevin(Molly)Kelly,Bill(Mendi)Kelly;18Grandchildren;Manyotherrelativesandfriends. Grandchildren: Sean, Sara, Anne, Brendan, Connor, Erin, Andrew, Megan, Katie, Nick, Ava, Willa, Bailey, Nash, Sydney, Wyatt, Evie & Brigid. VISITATION: Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 from 5-7:00pm, with a 7pm ROSARY, all at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church (8200 N. 30 St.) FUNERAL MASS: Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at 10:30am at the Church.
