Preceded in death by parents, Francis Yih-Ching and Tan Ping Liu. Survived by wife of 32 years, Lori (Glissmann); son, Benjamin; daughters, Megan, and Meredith (Trent) Matthes; sister, Irene (Ron) Schnieders; niece, Suzanne Gallagher, nephew Matthew Schnieders; many other relatives and friends.
Gene was born in Shanghai, China and lived there until the family moved to Hong Kong. He and his family immigrated to the USA from China in 1964. He attended Benson High School and later received his degree in Engineering from UNL and his MBA from UNO. Gene worked for the Corps of Engineers for 28 years before retiring in 2009, after which he worked as a consultant. He met his wife Lori at Big Fred’s on a blind date, and they were married 11 months later in October of 1990. They welcomed their three children between 1991 and 1995.
VISITATION: Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm at Braman Mortuary, 72nd Street Chapel. Private Family Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park. Celebration of Gene’s Life: Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2725 N 60th Ave.
