Grace Eleanor (Monzingo) Burg, 88, died October 27, 2012, in Lincoln. Eleanor was born September 28, 1924, in Omaha to Leland and Lucile (Ross) Monzingo. She grew up in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School. Eleanor married John D. Burg in 1948. She was a lifelong person of faith, active in the Omaha Gospel Tabernacle, Benson Missionary Alliance and Temple Baptist Church in Omaha. She retired after 24 years employed as a medical secretary at Immanuel School of Nursing and later Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. She enjoyed reading, visiting the sick and elderly, supporting missionary work, and traveling to Marine reunions with John, who served in World War II. Eleanor’s survivors include daughters Barbara Burg Armstrong and her husband, Charles, of Omaha; Lynne Burg Herman and her husband, Matt of Lincoln; grandchildren, John Christopher Armstrong and his new bride, Nicole and daughter Abigayl of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Amy Elizabeth Herman of Lincoln; and sister Rosemary Teckmeyer of Omaha. Eleanor joins her parents, her sister Libby, her son, William “Bill” Burg, and her husband of 61 years, John, in heaven. Visitation is Wednesday, October 31, 2012, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Braman Mortuary located at 1702 North 72nd Street, Omaha, NE. Funeral service will be Thursday, November 1st, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church located at 2702 North 61st Street, Omaha, NE. Interment at Evergreen Park Memorial Cemetery located at 2300 South 78th Street, Omaha, NE, immediately following the funeral. Memorials may be directed to Temple Baptist Church or the donor’s choice.
