SEMROSKA, Edward A. "Ed" 6/21/1934 – 11/10/2020 Edward A. Semroska was born at home, on a ranch in western Nebraska of the small town Montrose. He was born to Barbara (Seares) Semroska and Richard Semroska, June 21, 1934. He was number 7of 10 children.He grew up on the ranch and in 1952 graduated from Assumption Academy in Chadron, Ne.He was salutatorian and valedictorian both from his class of 4.After high school he went to Denver, Co. to study to become a priest and after a short time there he decided it wasn’t the right place for him. He then went and joined the army and served from 1954 to 1956. His basic training was in Ky. And then he shipped out from Fort Ord in California on a ship to Korea where he spent the next 18 months in Pusan, Korea as a company clerk.When he came home from the service, February of 1956 he went to Crawfordsville, Indiana to enroll in Western Union School. While attending there he soon met a beautiful young woman by the name of Mary Lou Engle and May 1st was their first date.Love was undeniable between them both and knew they had each found their life long partner.Western union sent them in separate directions and after Ed visited her twice he knew he couldn’t live without her and so soon they were wed and living inKeokuk, Ia.Soon after they started their family and a son was born to them they named Darold Duane.They moved to Pueblo, Co. and Ed was going to go to work for the railroad communications but that didn’t pan out and so family came and helped them move back to Chadron, Ne. where he started a job at Safeway grocery store.They were there a little over a year when another move for them came up to Terre Haute, Ind.Ed worked for a grocery store there and now another baby for them is on the way.Deborah Lynn was born in May and Ed started working for the post office.After being there a year he had to make a career decision and when a friend heard he was maybe looking for something else offered him a job on his dairy farm back in Chadron and so the family of four headed back to Chadron.Ed worked on the dairy farm for 1 year and his health just didnt allow him to do that anymore.Now they had their 3rd child Doreena Lucretia.Ed went back to working for Safeway and now five years later and going to a church out in White Clay (33 miles away) and a man that owned grocery stores asked Ed to come be the assistant manager at a grocery store on the Sioux Nation Indian Reservation.This is also where Ed began a calling to preach and became the pastor of the church we were attending.Two years later we then moved to O’Neill, Ne. where he was assistant manager for another grocery store owned by the same man.It is in O’Neill where Ed and Mary Lou started a church in their home and met there for 3 months until a building was found.Another five years later and another move to Guthrie Center where Ed managed a 3rd grocery store for this man. Here there son Darold graduated and married now had a serious car accident that left him mentally and physically handicapped.After a six month stay in the hospital he came back home to live under his mother and father’s care.Debbie graduated in 1978 and went to Owatonna, Minn to attend Pillsbury Bible College.The family then moved up to Owatonna, Minn where Ed began a career at Hy-Vee , Doreena their youngest then graduated high school and their two daughters had a double wedding.Ed and Marylou have always been very faithful in attending Church and sharing their love for God. Ed served on many deacon boards.He taught Sunday school classes, filled in at the pulpit, led many bible studies, led singing and sang many specials in church. In 1993 Ed had his first heart attack and this led to a triple and bi pass and finally resulting in a pace maker. They moved to Arkansas in 1998, They planned to retire here. Found a lovely church and made many friends.Ed worked for Wal-Mart in the receipts department.However with all their family back in Omaha they decided to come live here and be with all the family.Ed worked another several years for Hy-Vee and finally completely retired by 2012. Ed spent these years faithfully attending church, teaching bible study.He enjoyed family gatherings and family reunions.He loved his family with all his heart and He loved his bible and reading and studying God’s word so very much.Anyone whoever met Ed knew there was something special about him and he shared his testimony often.He was one of the kindest dearest patient man that walked the face of the earth. On November 10, 2020 he went home to be with his Savior. No more aches and pains, no more ailments.Eternal Rest with peace and sweet reunion with all the ones gone on before him. Ed lost his dad when he was 11 and his mother lived to be 91.
