Palczynski, Edward Frank "Ed" (age 94)
August 25, 1930 ~ November 23, 2024
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Frank (1932) and Helen (1955): brother Ted Palter (2013), sister-in-law Josephine Palter and nephew John Palter (2022) and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by wife of 56 years Charlotte Y (Mumm) Palczynski. Together they had 2 daughters Jacquelyn Jean Palczynski (Mike) and Jennifer Jill Palczynski. Ed had 6 grandchildren Danielle, Sam and Camren Mantzaris, Lindsey (Erin) Renken, Trae and Joey Sampson. Ed also had 3 great grandchildren: Carson, Lorraine and Merrilee. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He graduated high school in 1948 at the age of 17 from J Sterling Morton High School in Cicero Il. Out of high school he began working for Kraft Foods, He worked there until his aunts and uncles convinced him to apply at the Hawthorn Works plant as most of the family worked there. With the promise of higher wages and benefits, he made the change.
In 1959 Ed was given the opportunity to move to Omaha with the opening of the Western Electric plant, so he moved to Omaha and bought a nice house in a respectable neighborhood, Trendwood. While working at Western Electric he met his future wife Charlotte Mumm. They were married in 1968.
Ed was proud to be from Chicago and talked about it often. He took his family on yearly trips to the city. In 1973, a year before Jacque started kindergarten He started building a house on the 40 acres of land they had purchased.. It was the exact opposite of where he grew up. Ed got to live in his house on his own little slice of heaven for 50 years.
After Ed retired, he loved working outside on his lawn and garden or even just taking walks in the woods. He often took food out to feed the animals after meals. He was a conservationist at heart. Recycling was a daily thing for him. “Always leave things better then you found them”
Our farmer found a nest of bunnies and brought one to dad. He hand fed that baby bunny until it was ready to go back outside. The man had a huge heart for animals.
Ed was mostly a quiet man. He let his actions speak for him. We will love and miss you forever.
