Edward G. Maccubbin

MacCubbin, Edward G., Jr. 11/21/1963 – 2/18/2022 Edward Gerard MacCubbin, Jr. was born in Upper Darby Pennsylvania November 21, 1963. While growing up he spent many summer vacations at the Jersey Shore with his sisters Jen and Tiffany, and parents. He attended Haverford High School, graduating in 1981.Ed left Pennsylvania to attend the University of Nebraska for their superior Biology program and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Ed worked as a claims adjuster for Shelter Insurance from 1990-2007.In 2008, he continued working in the insurance field as a fire investigative specialist for Fidelity Insurance (now known as Stillwater Insurance) and continued working as a SIU Senior investigator with Stillwater Insurance. Ed and Rhonda were a part of a close nit family of friends in college.After many years of friendship, their love grew. They married in 1989 and raised two fantastic children together, Rebecca Rose and Kyle Edward, and he always expressed how proud of them he was. He was an active father to them both spending hours on the floor playing and rough housing with them when they were young. He enjoyed being part of the coaching teams for each of them from preschool age through junior high both on school as well as select team soccer, basketball, flag football, and baseball.Ed never met a child he couldn’t entertain and get to laugh. Ed was a deeply loved son, brother, father, son-in-law, brother-in law, as well as a favorite uncle and best friend to many throughout his years. “Eddy Mac of Philadelphia” was a devoted fan of Nebraska Football, Eagles Football , Flyers Hockey, and beer! He enjoyed playing softball, well into his later years, with various teams - some believe more for the socialization and fun than for the love of the game itself.He also enjoyed fishing, watching football, occasionally hunting, collecting knives, and going shooting.Whenever he could, he loved spending time with his each of his kids, son-in-law Anthony and precious granddaughter Gracie Rose, who adored him. Above all, Ed’s favorite past timewas having “a few” beers with family or friends for no reason at all, or to celebrate any occasion. He had the ability to find humor and lighten the mood in any situation.His quick wit and often colorful “inappropriate” humor was never at a loss for him.Ed will always be known as a man's-man with an eternally young-at-heart attitude. Eddy touched many lives. He will truly be missed and forever in our hearts. Edward was preceded in death by parents Edward, Sr. & Marge; He is survived by his wife Rhonda; daughter Rebecca (Anthony) Cabrera; son Kyle MacCubbin; granddaughter Gracie Cabrera; sisters: Jennifer (Jay) Kosberg, Tiffany Henning; many other relatives and friends.
