Edward J. Klima

April 25th 1929 – September 19th 2023

Edward J. Klima passed the morning of September 19, 2023 – a little over a year since his wife Diane’s passing. You may have known him from one of the dance bands he played trumpet in throughout college where the limo wagon that held all of the instruments and band members would drive all night after a gig and drop Ed off at the then named Omaha University so he could get to class. It could be from the time he spent in the Marines or the Air Force. Or maybe from Ed’s teaching you private music lessons in his basement. Or maybe from when he was a traveling music teacher as he started his career in the Omaha Public Schools. Quite possibly it was when he was a school administrator as he was principal of Ashland Park Elementary, Lewis and Clark Jr High, King 9th Grade Center, or his last stint as principal of Burke High School. He also spent time in the school system's central office during the 70's and worked on the desegregation task force for OPS.

During his early years teaching, he continued his schooling to obtain his Masters in Education and ultimately his PHD in Education. He was truly an advocate for youth and their education. There is so much more that could be said about this man, but to his family he was not only a fine man, but a great son, husband, dad, and grandfather. Thank you Dr. Edward J. Klima for who you were and how you had shown how others should be. You will be missed.
