Edward Cy George

June 30, 1936 — September 12, 2018

GEORGE, Edward C. 6/30/1936 – 9/12/2018 Age 82 years of Omaha Edward George was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Jessie and Cy George, where he lived a very fulfilling life. Ed graduated from Tech High School in 1954 and shortly after joined the United States Army where he served 4 years as a Supply Handler. In 1960 Ed became an Omaha Police Officer and quickly earned the nicknames “Fast Eddie” and “The Fuzz”. Ed served the OPD for 29 years. For the first 7 years on the force Ed patrolled Omaha on a Harley and transitioned to an Interstate Patrolman for the remainder of his tenure. Ed retired in 1989 after a traumatic interstate roll-over nearly took his life. Ed met the love of his life, Connie, in the early 70’s and they married in 1977. Ed was a doting husband to Connie and father to Chris. He especially adored his nephew, Kevin, and felt he was the son he never had. Serve & Protect was Ed’s conviction. He continued to work security jobs and was a staple at the Ranch Bowl where he checked I.D.’s, ran night security, and made lifelong friends for over 10 years. Ed was also the head of security at Westfair Amphitheater for many years. Ed was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed tennis, bowling, hunting, fishing, carpentry and most of all, golfing. Ed was instrumental in the opening of Tiburon Golf Club and worked there as a Golf Pro. In addition, Ed helped design and run Chili Greens Golf Course. Ed was also a member of Ashland Golf Club and had remained an active golfer there for the past 20+ years. Ed was a role model through and through. He helped in the community as a Shriner, working with Children’s Hospital foundations. In more recent years he took up bus driving for the Millard School District and did so up until the day of his passing. He really loved working with the children. Ed was a loyal and devoted friend/husband/father/uncle/grandpa/great-grandpa. He beamed with pride when he spoke of his family. Ed wore his heart on his sleeve and loved them fiercely. He would sacrifice anything for them. He was Grandpa to 5 and Great-Grandpa to 6. Ed was the most generous, kind, loving, man and he will be missed terribly.
