Dorothy L. Stoltenburg was carried away in the arms of her Savior on August 14, 2019.She was born on June 7, 1926 in Redfield, SD to loving Christian parents Henry D.E. Miller and Adeline (Rux) Miller.Dorothy was the third in line of seven children.Her family moved to a farm outside of Watertown, SD when she was a child.Dorothy’s father loved horses, and passed that down to his children.Dorothy was an excellent rider and belonged to a local equestrian group. Dorothy graduated from Watertown High School.Following graduation she received a full scholarship to Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND.There she studied business and aeronautics.Dorothy was one lesson from her solo flight when she was called back home to help care for her ill mother. As a young woman, Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper in the Watertown area.One day she visited the local optometrist office where her sister worked, and a handsome young man was also there.She married that young man, Leonard Stoltenburg, on September 11, 1949.God blessed them with four daughters:Cheryl (Clyde) King of Beatrice, NE, Lenette (Norm) Spiess of Eagle River, Wisc., Susan (Ed) Frese of Mapleton, Minnesota, and Karen (Arlan) Buhr of Omaha, NE.The family later moved to NewUlm, Minnesota where Dorothy and Leonard sacrificed and worked hard so their daughters could have a Christian education.Christ was always the cornerstone in their home. In New Ulm Dorothy continued work in accounting at the local college and other venues, and then helping her husband in management of the Big Bear farm supply store.Dorothy and Len were married for 40 years when Leonard passed away from pancreatic cancer in 1990.She soon moved to Omaha, NEto be near three daughters and their families, and where she became an avid NE Cornhusker fan. Two years after her move she married Norman Stoltenburg and gained 2 stepsons Al (Tammy) Stoltenburg, and Galen (Lisa) Stoltenburg and three more grandchildren. They were blessed with twenty years of loving companionship when Norm passed away in 2013. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, her parents-in-law, her brother Bernie, her son-in-law Ron Siwirski, and several sisters/brothers in-law. In addition to her children and their spouses Dorothy is survived by her siblings: Ralph Miller, Kathryn Reichling, Neil (Mavis) Miller, Florence (Marv) Galinat, and Curt (Shari) Miller.The rest of Dorothy’s legacy includes: 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren,2 great-great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. God blessed Dorothy with a wonderful life.She has finally received her solo flight!
