God reached out and took Dorothy's hand on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 5:10 p.m.. She was 82 years and 1 mo. Dorothy wanted to stay with all of us she loves so very much, but she was tired. So Dorothy held out her hand and with grace, followed her Lord and Savior to join him in Heaven. We know she's watching over all of us and looking forward to the day we will all be together with her again. While we all know she's free from pain and illness and sorrow, those she left behind miss her deeply. The pain of our loss cuts so deeply right now, but we will keep living, loving and laughing as we know she wants us to do. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Dora Lenser (Rabe) and Walter Lenser; and her brother Gene and sister in-law Loyetta Lenser. Dorothy was born in Wisner, NE and spent her youth moving around northeast Nebraska with her family. Her family settled in Fremont, NE where she graduated from Fremont High School in 1946. She met her future husband, Bob Piercy at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE. Yes, it's true, he did squash a bug in her book. Dorothy married William Robert Piercy on November 2, 1947. Dorothy and Bob were married 63 years. Dorothy and Bob brought four beautiful children into the world. Christine Daily, mother of Victor Stava (Natasha), Sean Herek, Kyle Herek and Christie Daily. Christine is grandmother to Maxton, Anastasia and Alexis Stava, Taylor Herek and Angela Daily. Kathy Johnson, married to Mark Johnson, mother of Megan (soon to be Mrs. Jason Miller!!!) and Erika Buchanan (Adam). Kathy is grandmother to Lucas Buchanan. William Piercy, III, married to Jean Busboom-Piercy, father of Mason and Amber Busboom-Piercy. Amy Carlstedt, married to Eric, mother of Hannah, Mary and Samuel Carlstedt. Dorothy is also survived by her little-big brother Ronald Lenser who is married to Francine. Ron and Fran are parents to Ronda Dillard (Scott) and Leslie Lenser. She made many dear friends and our family wants to thank all of you for the love you shared, your thoughtfulness and caring and for being a part of her life. Dorothy was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE where she taught Sunday school, served on various boards and was part of Lutheran Women's Missionary League/LWML and her women's circle that continued to meet until she became too ill to continue. She loved her Lord with all her heart and always stood firm in her faith setting a beautiful example for all those around her. Our hearts are heavy and the pain is deep, but we will all go on together. We'll hold on to each other and love each as Dorothy would want us to do. We will remember her orneriness, the enduring love she filled us with, her love of the mountains and beautiful music. Memorial Service of a wonderful life, Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church (5151 NW Radial Hwy). "To love another person is to see the face of God." Victor Huge, Les Miserables.Phillippians 4: 4-6, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." New International Version/NIV, 2011.
