Dorothy Lee (Dworak) O’Donnell, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend walked into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday morning, December 19th. Dorothy was born on October 25, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Leo and Bertha Dworak and was the oldest of three sisters born to this union. Dorothy married the love of her life, Gene O’Donnell, on December 20, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union four children were born: two daughters, Terri and Peggy; and two sons, Eugene and John. Her life’s vocation was spent loving and caring for her family and friends. She had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed hosting seasonal parties and holiday gatherings, which were always filled with laughter, lively games and good food. She lived her life for the Lord, and for many years she and Gene opened their home for weekly Bible studies. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene; her children Terri Blackmon, Peggy (Craig) Timm, Eugene (Medra) O’Donnell and John (Vicki) O’Donnell; her grandchildren Nicole (Rusty) Dubree, Phillip (Jessica) Blackmon, Heather (Matt) Allen, Joshua (Hayley) Timm, Shannon O’Donnell, Melanie O’Donnell, Michael O’Donnell, and Kaitlyn O’Donnell; her great-grandchildren Alexis & Jackson Dubree, Cruz & Isla Blackmon, and Ella & Camilla Allen. She is also survived by her sisters Janet Eselin and Heather (Don) Martin and many loving nieces and nephews. Grammy, as she is affectionately known, will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A service of witness to the resurrection and a celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, December 28th at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel). Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm, with her service to follow. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
