Dorothy married her long time best friend James "Jim" Gano, August 5th, 1967. He called her his Bride for almost 50 yrs. His passing in January 2017 was very hard for her. In the earlier years they used to love going to Philly's Bar and Grill or Choo Choos to have a few drinks and let loose. Bought a house in 1970 in Millard and lived there most of their lives. Jim loved to take her to dinner on the weekends. The Drawing Room, Canigilia's and Mr Steakwere some of their favorites. Dorothy lived for her family. She raised 3 beautiful girls and helped raise a granddaughter. She loved to spend any time she could with hergrand kids and great grandchildren. She also was a huge pet lover. Minnie, Jabot, Gizzy, Bella and Davey were all her kids as well. After raising her family she worked in a few delicatessens and took great pride in her work. I remember the stories she used to tell us about frying up chicken around the summer holidays.... Pretty sure this is the reason she hates chicken to this day. Elvis Presley, The King was her all time favorite singer/entertainer.She owned every single album he ever made. She saw him in concert in 1974 with her BFF and again in 1977 with her daughter Angie. She had so many songs that she loved but some of her all time favs was Suspicious Minds, My Way, Fever, Burning Love and His gospel album, HUSKERS FOOTBALL was an obsession. We remember in the 70's having to crawl on the floor to get to the other side of the room (weren't allowed to block the tv at any time) She also loved her Dallas Cowboys and Denver Bronco's. Bingo was a fun pastime for her. Almost every Monday they would drive down to the bingo hall and hope to win big.... she never won a Jackpot! She finally got a Facebook account and it only took her a few days to get the hang of it. Soon she was posting statuses, liking and commenting and loved the games. Fish World, CSI Investigationand Bingo Bash to name a few. Christmas was her all time favorite holiday. She loved to go shopping at Kmart and hit up the blue light specials. She also loved to see the decorations and lights in all the yards including ours. When she turned 60 yrs old she felt so sick on a Sunday in 2007 we took her to the ER and come to find out she had Colon Cancer. She was a warrior and fought like &^$$*(#@ and beat it! Clean bill of health in 2012 as the cancer was gone. Recently she felt weak, shakey and unable to use her hand, thinking she had a stroke we took her to the doctor to get checked out and insisted on the MRI. On September 19th 2019 a trip to her primary doctor showed she now had Lung cancer that had metastasizedto the brain. We thought we had at least 6 months with her to make so many more memories. She ended up passing on Saturday Oct 12th at 3:20am due to sepsis and complications of pneumonia barely 22 days from her diagnosis. She really was the most caring and kind lady. Herlove was unconditional and contagious to anyone that she met. She will be missed by so many.
