Dorothy Mae “Dotty” Dobbins was born July 9, 1941 to Robert and Florence Capron in Fremont, NE. Dotty was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. Dotty attended Fremont High School and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1959 prior to attending two years at Wayne State College as a math major.Dotty’s first marriage to Byron “Broek” Broekemeier from 1960-1977 blessed them with 4 children in Kearney, NE. Dotty was a stay at home mom for the first part of her marriage and later excelled in the business world with Mary Kay Cosmetics and So-Fro Fabrics. In 1983, Dotty and Willis Dobbins were married and enjoyed 28 years together which resulted in a blended family with seven children.Will and Dotty relocated to Millard, NE in 1987 and became long time members of Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, giving many years of service. Dotty valued time with family and friends; baking delicious deserts; supporting Vacation Bible School and Little Lamb Day Care Center; sewing and crocheting baby gifts; and enjoying time watching nature at its best around their backyard water feature.Dotty touched many lives with her generous heart, mischievous personality, and infectious laugh.Dotty had a love for children and spent many meaningful years with Lutheran Family Services connecting adopted children with their biological parents. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Florence, sisters Julene and Marlene, brother Donald, and husband Willis.She is survived by her brother Gordon, first husband Broek, daughters Deb, Cindy (Al), and Kerri, son Karl (Kimberly), step-son Mark, step-daughters Marci and Maggie, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dotty leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion which is evidenced in her children and grandchildren and a reflection of her life’s work.
