Donald had presided in Omaha, Nebraska since 2019. He was with the Salvation Army for a few years and resigned in 1956. He met his wife Wava J. Pearson while serving with the Salvation Army. They were married June 18, 1956 in Butte, MT.
After settling in Tacoma, WA he worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for several years. In June of 1970 they moved first to Colorado for a short time and then on to Hastings, NE. Don continued his career in accounting until retiring at the end of 1996. During those years he and his wife moved back to Tacoma, WA. and returned back to Nebraska after retiring, living in Hastings. During this time he took care of his wife who had a long term illness. His health began to fail. He moved into the Kennsington Assisted Living facility in Hastings. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church, based out of New Foundland, Canada.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Wava Jean Pearson West; parents, David and Pearl West; granddaughter, Cindy Lou West; three siblings, David, Evelyn, and Marget. He is survived by his four children, Ronald L. (Young), Blake E. (Brenda), Kenneth (Annette), Susan Baker, (Jody) and 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sister, Marlene H. Burnett.
