Donald Tschetter was born in Carpenter, South Dakota, November 9, 1927. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Huron High School. He attended Huron college before enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1945. With the end of World War II he was honorably discharged. On January 4, 1948 he married Violet Walter in Huron, S.D. They moved to Omaha, NE in 1948 to attend Grace Bible Institute. These were also years of spiritual formation as they studied the Scriptures and learned to walk by faith. Upon Graduation the family moved to Indiana where Don earned his MDiv. from Grace Theological Seminary. His love for theology increased and this became his lifelong passion. Whilehis focus was on preparing for the pastorate, plans changed with a call from Berean Academy in Elbing, KS to take a teaching position. In 1958 he joined the faculty of Grace Bible Institute (now Grace University) where he became the academic deanin 1960. He served Grace for 49 years as professor, academic dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Don served in various other capacities until his retirement in 2007. He received two honorary doctorate degrees, one from Grace University and the other from GraceTheological Seminary. Dad's 82 years revolved around his faith and family. He was a devoted husband for 62 years, a loving father for 61 years, a faithful worker in the church and a servant to all. Don's trust in the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior is the basis of our hope and the certainty of eternal life.
