Don Boicourt was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia nearly 5 years ago.Over the years his family cared for him in their home, watching a healthy father & husband lose the ability to walk, talk, & take care of the simplest things in life that we all take for granted, & do naturally.Michelle & Marlene would take care of him throughout the week, & Deana gave them much needed breaks on the weekends. Don was always loved, by them & his cat buddies, 3 rescue cats which the family adopted on his birthday a few years before his illness was diagnosed.Don always loved animals, whether it be dogs or tropical fish, but his most favorite were his cats.Elvis, OJ & Jaz sat on the chair with Don & rubbed his legs.Closer to the end, Elvis sat on his hospital bed with him as they watched Old Westerns on TV.Even OJ paid him a visit 30 minutes before he past— we believe just to say goodbye. Don was a Veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War.After retiring from the printing business, he would take on home improvement projects, followed the honey-do-list, & loved to go grocery store shopping with his daughter, Michelle. Don also enjoyed traveling, as long as they were road trips, & quick “jump out of the car, take a quick picture” types of trips. One of his last trips was visiting his daughter Deana in San Francisco, where he saw all the sights, & with the help of his daughter, Michelle flew on a plane for the first time in many years. Don had a rich life, with ups & downs, but always with much love surrounding him.He will be sorely missed. He passed away peacefully at his home on Friday evening, September 27, 2019, surrounded by his wife of 48 years, Marlene(Charvat) & his 2 daughters, Michelle & Deana Boicourt. He was 78 years old.He just missed his 79th birthday by a little over 2 weeks. Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth & Bernice Boicourt, he is survived by his brother Kenneth Boicourt & his wife Jean, brother-in-law Francis Charvat , sister-in-law laws, Lucille Wisinski & Jeanette Volz, & many nieces & nephews.
