Don Moser, age 101, left this world peacefully at Brookestone Village in Omaha, NE on November 4, 2017. Don was a lifelong resident of the Storm Lake, Iowa area. Don was born in Alta, Iowa on October 3, 1916 to Phillip and Emma (Olson) Moser. Don graduated from Alta High School in 1934 and business school in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduation, Don worked in office sales, played fast pitch softball and taught ballroom dance. He entered the Army, fighting in the Philippines as a decorated officer during WWII. Upon his return, he was united in marriage to Irene Mohr on April 6, 1947.Three children were born to this union: Susan, Steven, and Jay. Don and Irene lived in both Albert City and Alta during this time while Don worked as a livestock buyer for Hygrade Meats. In addition, for a number of years in the 60’s, Don was the owner of a men’s clothing store. Don and Irene’s time was spent raising children which included hours of basketball, fried chicken family dinners every Sunday, and evenings of gatherings with friends for bridge or dancing. After Irene’s passing in 1995, Don married Jolene Bauman and enjoyed many more happy days in the Storm Lake area continuing to do all the things he loved. Don loved gardening, golf (it became a challenge in later years to shoot his age), card games, and dancing- and he loved his family and friends. Don made people feel good and smile at life. The world is a better place because Don was here. Don is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carroll, his brother Lyle who passed at the age of 2, his wives Irene and Jo. Left with the best memories ever are his children Susan and husband Jeff, his son Steve and his wife Kris, and his son Jay and his wife Liz, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
