Desiree A. Arnholt

July 3, 1973 — September 1, 2024

Desiree Ann Arnhold, age 51, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024, in Atlantic, Iowa after a long illness. Desiree was born on July 3, 1973, at the Ogallala Community Hospital to Judith (Young) Arnholt and Gerald Arnholt. Desiree spent her childhood in Ogallala until she graduated from Ogallala High School in 1992. Desiree traveled extensively with her family and made it to all 50 states during their summers. Desiree was passionate and actively involved in Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed volleyball, softball, dance committee, student council, concert choir, FBLA, and swimming. After graduation, she attended Mid Plains in McCook, Nebraska, where she majored in childhood development. Desiree loved working with children. She then moved to Omaha where she spent the rest of her life. Desiree loved the Lord and had confidence in her faith. She could be found listening to her praise music and Bible stories. Desiree attended church regularly and was active in the congregation. Her faith was crucial to her. Desiree fought a hard battle with mental health disorders, and she fought valiantly for others who suffered alongside her. Mental health awareness and the stigma that is attached to it was important to Desiree. She wanted to be remembered for being a good sister, friend, and family member.

Desiree was survived by her loving sister, Melinda (Brian) Arriola of Ogallala, Nebraska, her longtime childhood friend, Angela Helff of Papillion, Nebraska, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Desiree was proceeded in death by her parents, Judith and Gerald Arnholt as well as her infant niece.

Desiree asked that donations be made in her memory to Community Alliance of Omaha, where she resided for many years. Community Alliance helps people with Mental health disorders find community, jobs, apartments, and provides classes to equip them for life so that people like Desiree have the chance to live independently. Donations can be made directly to Community Alliance at 4001 Leavenworth Street, Omaha, Nebraska, 68105 or directly on their website at www.community-alliance.org.
