BRAGG, Dean E. Born in Minden, Nebraska on January 28, 1942 to Hilmer and Esther Bragg and passed away in Omaha, Nebraska Sept. 21, 2019 of heart failure. Dean spent his childhood in the Axtell, Nebraska area, graduating from Axtell High School in 1959. Dean participated in drama and basketball as a youth.After graduation, Dean worked at the furniture store in Holdredge, Ne. saving money for college.The following year, while attending Trinity College in Chicago, Dean met Betty Edghill.The two were married June 1, 1963.Dean returned to college and earned a BS degree in Education while Betty taught K-2 in Minden, Ne.Later, while teaching in the Omaha area, Dean earned a Masters in Education and several graduate hours in administration.Dean and Betty were the proud parents of two children:Sara and Kirk who also followed their parents footsteps into education. Dean loved sports, especially watching Kirk play basketball and baseball.Additionally, he loved music and enjoyed hearing Sara play piano and attending band competitions. Dean was active in the church teaching Sunday school, serving on boards, and singing in the choir. Having grown up on a farm, Dean's love of tractors and farm equipment was shown in a large collection of John Deere and International Harvester tractors, Tootsie and Rals toys.An avid reader, Dean would spend hours reading the Bible, current events, the newspaper and Louis L'Amour books. The last 15 years Dean suffered from chronic pain, heart, and other health related issues. When possible, Dean attended his grandchildren's sporting/school events, but was not able to travel as much as he would have liked due to poor health.However, he still placed his faith in Jesus Christ spreading the good news wherever possible, especially the last two years at Azria/Montclair nursing home praying with fellow residents and staff. Dean was preceded in death by his parents Hilmer and Esther Bragg and brother in law Claire Lundgren. He is survived by his Wife of 56 years, Betty Bragg; Daughter Sara Freeman & husband Jeff; Son Kirk Bragg & wife Jennifer; Grandchildren: Katelyn, Braxton, Alex, Bella, Berkley; Sister-in-law Jan Lundgren;Niece Marilyn Louthan; Nephews Gordon Bragg & wife Robyn; Brent and Jenny Lundgren, Nathan and Jen Lundgren,Other relatives and friends.
