KAVEN, Danny L. Sr. 6/14/1946 – 12/3/2020 John 14 1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also me be. Danny Lee Kaven Sr. was a Son, Brother, Cousin, Uncle, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, head of the Family, Teacher, and a friend to all. He worked hard for his family. He loved his family and handed out tough love when needed. Danny as a young boy spent a lot of time outside building go-karts and working in the yard for his mom and dad. He said he liked working and helping his Dad. As a young teenager, he was known to bring some old cars home to work on. The one you would hear about the most was the 56 Old’s convertible. Danny was married at a young age to our beautiful mother Helen. They were married on July 2nd, 1965. From the love of Danny & Helen came 5 children Danny Jr, Davy, Christy, Heath & Heather. Danny at the time was studying art at an art school in Omaha, NE. He enjoyed painting and drafting. He dreamed of becoming a commercial artist. As kids, our house was filled with some of his paintings. In the 1970’s, he was known for painting oils on black velvet. His friends bought most of the black velvet paintings back then. Shortly after marriage, he started working with his father Harley Kaven. At the time, Harley worked on furnaces. At some point, Air Conditioning became a big thing. Danny started to learn the “ins and outs” of air conditioning. So, with Harley and Danny’s hard work, they created a well known company in the Omaha area, Harley & Son Furnace & Air Conditioning. Danny was a man of many trades, from design, constructing a big two-story barn in his backyard, and remodeling homes to name some of his many talents. He would always lend a hand and go to his son’s and daughter's homes to help in remodels of their houses. He also liked working on old Hot Rod cars with his sons, and he enjoyed driving the Hot Rods to car shows to show them off. Danny was always eager to help and always shared his talents. He was a great teacher to his sons and daughters. If you had a question, he would always be there to help or answer your questions. Danny loved Christmas, and as a man that loved to give, it made perfect sense. After Christmas as kids, we remember him stating to Mother, “Let’s just leave the Christmas decorations up”. He also had a great love for his grandkids. Looking back on family pictures, you will see his grandkids all around him. Life for Danny was not always easy, but as a great father/teacher, he taught us how to take a fall, brush yourself off, and keep going. An earthly Father made in the image and likeness of God, showed us how to love your Family & Friends and how to live with respect for all. Matthew 11 28-30 Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourself. Preceded in death by parents Harley & Adalene Kaven; daughter, Heather Kaven. Survived by: wife, Helen; sons, Danny Jr. (Maureen), Heath (Emily) & Davy Kaven; daughter, Christy (Brian) Schrawyer; sister, Donna McGinnis; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many other relatives & friends. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be used in Danny’s honor at a later date.
