Cynthia J. Koehlmoos, 71, of Springfield, NE, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020, at her home with her daughters at her side. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Omaha, with Pastors Gary Werling and Mark Hannemann officiating. Interment will be at the Omaha National Cemetery, Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held Monday, August 10, 2020, 5-7 p.m. at Braman Mortuary- Southwest Chapel. Cindy was born, March 21, 1949, in Spencer, Iowa, to Wayne and Peg (Houser) Glover. She was confirmed in the Christian faith in 1963 at Terril United Methodist Church in Terril, IA. She graduated from Terril High School in 1967. She continued her education at Morningside College receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to receive her Master’s in Education from University of Nebraska - Omaha. Cindy met the love of her life, Curt, while attending Morningside College. They were married May 29, 1970, at Terril United Methodist Church with a cake and ice cream celebration following. They were blessed with three children, Jairren, Jessica and Jason. The couple made their home in Springfield after Curt enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Cindy began her teaching career at Springfield Elementary in Springfield, NE, and taught there for 38 years until her retirement in 2008. Her students remember her innovative and interactive ways of teaching and the encouragement and passion she provided them to fuel readiness to learn. She was known for her tenacity and love from for helping others. She never backed down from a challenge and was quick to help those in need or struggling, providing homes for many in need. She was tremendously patient, calm and had a good sense of humor often adding to the laughter with her quick wit. Cindy had a passion for quilting and taught many quilting classes for well over 20 years. She spent thousands of hours at her sewing machine making many warm memories for her family and friends. She loved history, reading and making sure no person left her house hungry. Every Christmas she would bake everyone’s favorite cookie or bar, with baking up to 10 different varieties at the last Koehlmoos Christmas. Cindy will be most remembered for her unconditional love she offered to everyone she met, but especially her children, their spouses and five grandsons. Cindy is survived by her daughters and spouses, Jairren and Brett Flodine of Elkhorn, NE, Jessica and Jeff Fitzgerald of Olathe, KS; one son and spouse, Jason and Jennifer Koehlmoos of O’Neill, NE; 5 grandsons, Andrew, Matthew, Jackson, Christopher, and Sebastian; sister, Marcia and Tom Applen of St. Peter, MN; brother, Randy and Patricia Glover of Blue Mountain, MS, many nieces, nephews, relative and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curt in 2019, parents, Wayne and Peg Glover and mother and father-in-law Burnell and Clara Koehlmoos. Celebration of Cindy’s Life: Tues., Aug. 11, 2020 @ 11:00am @ Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church (15005 Q St) with lunch to follow.
