With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia M. Goering, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Cynthia was born & raised in Antigo, Wisconsin, but has called Omaha, Nebraska her home for all her adult life. Cindy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, at the age of 67.
Born on Saturday, September 21st, 1957, Cynthia enriched the lives of her family and community with warmth and kindness. Known for her supportive nature and infectious smile, she touched the lives of those around her and created lasting friendships.
Cindy worked as an Administrative Assistant with Millard Public Schools for 25 years before retiring in 2023. Cindy was active in her church choir for many years, served her community as a volunteer mentor with Teammates Mentoring, and was passionate about volunteering her time as an Ambassador with the Omaha Performing Arts as well as the Omaha Community Playhouse.
She is survived by her loving son, Matthew Goering, and his partner Molly Patera; her cherished grandson, Parker Goering; her devoted sisters, Judy (Peter) Young and Diane Greenwell; her brother, John (Shirley) Quirk, as well as nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Wynne Quirk, and her brother-in-law, Ron Greenwell.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Cynthia on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 4pm, with visitation starting at 3:00 pm at the Braman Mortuary (Millard Chapel) in Omaha, NE. Livestream can be viewed here.
