Crystal G Matz

December 28, 1951 — April 18, 2021

Crystal G. Matz (nee Brogdon), 69, is remembered as a loving sister, a gifted soprano, a talented seamstress, and a kind-hearted neighbor with many friends. So easy and infectious was her laugh, it was said, that TV shows and movie comedies always seemed funnier when viewed with her. A straight-A student in her youth, she was diligent, resourceful and focused. Her love of literature steered her toward an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of Kansas and a Master’s in Library Sciences from the University of Oklahoma. A dedicated librarian, serving over 45 years in the Omaha public library system, she was respected and admired by co-workers and library patrons appreciated her attentive and thorough research assistance. In her spare time, Crystal was an accomplished seamstress, producing beautiful clothing, needlepoint decorations and quilts – often for family members and friends. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice: she sang in church choirs, in amateur singing groups, and jumped at every opportunity to karaoke. Her travel adventures included Europe, the large cities of the USA and the Atlantic Ocean off the South Carolina & Florida coasts. She leaves behind two sisters, seven nieces and nephews, three grandnieces and a network of other relatives and friends devastated by her loss.
