Our beloved Cheryl Ann Colliers, 74, of Omaha, NE, left us unexpectedly on February 1, 2025, with family by her side. She will be welcomed to heaven by her parents Chandler and Betty Olson.
Cheryl is survived by her former husband Donald Colliers and their three children, Shaniece Colliers, Donielle Colliers, and Brandon (Christy) Colliers; eight grandchildren Jordan, Dylan, Calob, Brynlee, Jayden, Ryan, Gavin and Aubree; and one great granddaughter Raelynn. Cheryl is also survived by her brother Jim (Vicki) Sohl and sister Julie (Brian) Johnson.
Cheryl was born in Lincoln, NE and moved to Holdrege, NE around the age of six where she grew up on a farm. She attended District R-4 elementary school in Holdrege, NE and was confirmed at Holcomb Church in 8th grade. Cheryl graduated from Holdrege High School in 1968 taking an interest in Pep Club, Chorus and Girl’s Glee.
Cheryl later moved to Omaha, NE where she raised her three children. Favorite memories are shared among the children about their visits to the farm over summers in their younger years… “Driving down the road in that old brown car…”
Cheryl’s grandkids brought her so much happiness and she made sure to tell them how much she loved them. She worked multiple jobs to provide for her family.
Cheryl worked as a hairdresser. She valued the relationships she had with her coworkers and clients, many becoming an extension of her family. Her favorite job was doing hair in nursing homes for residents. She adored making people’s day with a fresh style. She took pride in her own appearance as well and had a pair of shoes for every outfit!
Cheryl enjoyed doing laundry and worked in several laundromats. She often did laundry for anyone living in her home (not always her own family members), whether they wanted her to or not. It was common to be surprised with freshly laundered clothes, neatly folded in a pile.
Cheryl loved finding little treasures and would often share her excitement by gifting items to others when she thought they might like or need them. She collected DVD’s and liked watching movies, as long as they weren’t scary. Get togethers for holidays and any occasion delighted her, especially when it included lots of desserts and a beer or two! For Christmas she would load up her car and bring all the fixin’s for a holiday meal complete with all the snacks. The day would be spent snacking, watching favorite movies, and enjoying the company of family.
Cheryl had a passion for gardening. She took great pride in her plants and her yard. She enjoyed sitting in the beauty of flowers all around her. She touched the lives of so many she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
— Helen Keller
