Christa Dawn (Hill) Patera
A Life Filled with Creativity, Laughter, and Love for Beagles
Christa Dawn (Hill) Patera, whose artistic talents and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew her, passed away on June 8th, 2024 at the age of 44. Born on May 20, 1980 in Omaha, Nebraska, Christa was the beloved daughter of David F. Hill and Patricia L. (Aylward) Hill .
From an early age, Christa exhibited a remarkable gift for art, excelling at drawing and finding creative outlets for her vivid imagination. She attended St. Bernadette Catholic grade school and graduated from Daniel J. Gross High School in Bellevue in 1998. Christa continued to nurture her passion for art, earning an Associate's degree in Graphic Design at Vatterott College in Omaha.
The quintessential dog lover, Christa's heart belonged to beagles. She cherished her beloved companions Caesar, Charlie, Maddie, and most recently, Dodger. Even after the heartbreaking losses of Charlie and Maddie, Christa's capacity for love proved boundless, and she opened her home to Dodger, showering him with the same unwavering affection.
Beyond her artistic pursuits and love for her four-legged friends, Christa had an infectious zest for life. She possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of movie quotes, which she delighted in reciting with perfect comedic timing, filling any room with laughter. A devoted sports fan, Christa avidly followed her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Nebraska Huskers football teams.
Christa will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her parents David and Patricia Hill, her sister Brenda (Samuel) McCants, as well as her brother Gregory (Ena) Hill, and nephews and niece Kedrin, Aaron, and Evalynn.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday June 14th at 11:00am at Braman Mortuary (Millard Chapel, 6505 S. 144th St., Omaha, NE). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Nebraska Humane Society.
Christa's vibrant spirit, creative talents, unwavering love for her beagle companions, and ability to find joy in the smallest moments will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be a blessing. We will miss her forever.
