Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jackie; and wife, Janice in 2018.
Chuck Urban was born June 22, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Chuck and Alice (Truesdale) Urban. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1957 where he excelled on the baseball diamond and managed the basketball squad. He met his only love, Janice, while working at Collins Radio and they were married soon after. Chuck spent his career mainly in radio broadcasting which took the family from Iowa to Kentucky, Illinois, Washington, Nebraska, Kansas, Wisconsin, back to Kentucky and finally settling in Omaha to be closer to the family and eventually retire.
Chuck and Jan made friends all across the U.S. but none were closer than Dick and Barb Wray of Cedar Rapids where they were most at home during weeklong stays. Within minutes of arrival the old chums were hard at play; the cribbage board was set, cards shuffled and drinks poured then the tournament for intergalactic supremacy would begin. The rest of the world came to a stop.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Endless Journey and True North Caregivers for helping clear a path for Chuck’s final journey.
