Charles Harold Mcatee

May 17, 1949 — September 7, 2021

McATEE, Charles Harold (MSGT, U.S.A.F. Retired) 5/17/1949 – 9/7/2021 Charles Harold McAtee, 72, passed away in the company of his loving wife, Jenny McAtee; and his children Lissa Anderson, Stephanie McAtee and Eric McAtee in Omaha, Nebraska in the early morning of September 7, 2021.Born to Harold and Vivien McAtee on May 17, 1949, Charles is survived by his siblings, Barbara Cooper, Caroline Hopfenblatt and John McAtee and his granddaughters, Vivienne and Isla Anderson.Charles “Big Mac” was a warm, fun-loving, sentimental, softy who’s greatest pride was his children and grandchildren, and wanted to be remembered as “the tickle monster.”Always stubborn, never quiet (unless nodding off) Charles will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Born in Fulton, Missouri, Charles left when he joined the Air Force to work in signal intelligence and was a proud “Dawg” of the Dawg Flight unit in Taiwan. After a stint in Vietnam, Charles was stationed in North Carolina and Offut Airforce Base in Bellevue, Nebraska where he retired after 20 years of military service and eventually joined the team at American National Bank.During this time, Charles enjoyed traveling to far-flung destinations with his wife and children and collecting arrowheads, coins, rocks, vases, and all other sorts of “treasures.”Friendship and family were supremely important to Charles. You could always count on him to have a hard-headed opinion or a dad joke and to always have time to have a beer with a friend. Charles took great pride in being a veteran, his collections, and the Missouri Tigers, but mostly, he will be remembered for valuing people, experiences and memories above all else. “I am ready to meet my maker.Whether my maker is ready for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.”W.
