Catherine Rose Green was born in Natchez, MS on March 20, 1949 to Earl and Kit Green. She and her family moved to Omaha, NE when she was about 10 years old. She was educated through Omaha Public Schools. Cathy later received an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Metropolitan Community College. She loved helping others and was passionate in her profession as an Optician. Cathy worked as an optician for over twenty years.August 19, 1989, Cathy married the love of her life, Kenneth R. Long Sr. They have been together for 25 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother.Cathy was a child of God. She believed in His word and tried to live her life accordingly. She was a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was a servant of God! She spent countless hours serving by her many roles in the church. She was a choir member, the Sunday School Superintendent, a Church Trustee, and dedicated to helping her church family the best she could. Cathy was a fun, loving woman who had a passion for helping others. She loved cooking, laughing, and being surrounded by family and friends. She was a burst of energy on any given day. She had a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was contagious. Cathy is preceded in death by her grandmother, India Felton of Natchez, MS, and her nephew, Cavaris Shackleford of Lincoln NE.She leaves to cherish her beloved husband, of twenty-five years, Kenneth R. Long Sr. four children: Robbie Green, Omaha, NE, James Green(Peggy)-Ladson, SC, Kenneth Barnes (Tina)-Lincoln, NE, LaJoy Gould, Omaha, NE. 3 Step-Children, Kenneth(Sharon)Long Jr., Dewayne Long, Donna Sanders all of Omaha, NE. Five siblings: Earl Green, Tomie Green (Jan), Alice Green Wolfe, Jerry Johnson, and Jeri Lynn Johnson, all of Omaha, NE, Mother-in-law Lola Mae Watkins, Omaha, NE. 13 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughter, and a dear Son-in-law James Gould, Omaha, NE. 3 Brother-in-laws: Harold(Linda)Shields, Las Vegas, NV, Jesse Shields and Larry Hall both of Omaha, NE. 4 Sisters-in-laws, Edith(Alphonso)Nelson, Kansa City, MO, Carolyn(Michael)Green, Beverly Shields, and Agnes(Kelvin)Crandell all of Omaha, NE. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends: (Celestine Harris, Frances Leflore, and Quincy Siddell Jr). Homegoing Celebration: Wed. 11:00 AM at Morning Star Baptist Church (2019 Burdette St.). Visitation: Tues. (4-14-09), from 6-8 PM at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel). Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
