Carol Smit was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on March 12, 2021 at age 69 to go to her heavenly home. Carol was the daughter of Corney and Grace Teunissen. She was raised on a farm near Rock Valley, Iowa. On March 26, 1971, she married James Smit at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa. After they were married, they made their home in Rock Valley, Iowa. In 1981 they moved to Middleburg, Iowa where they farmed for 23 years. In 2004 they moved to Gardnerville, Nevada for 9 months and then settled in Omaha, Nebraska where they presently live. Carol enjoyed being a homemaker. She received her RN in 2002 from NCC. She was a dedicated nurse and enjoyed her job. She loved being with her family, camping, making crafts and working on puzzles. She trusted the Lord and loved His word. She enjoyed being involved in Bible studies, teaching Sunday school and helping with VBS. Carol is survived by her husband James of 49 years; sons: Steven and Melissa Smit of Gardnerville, NV, Cory and Rebecca Smit of Hawarden, IA; daughter: Sara and Vincent Albertson of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Zane, Jada, Lexi, Haley, Noah, Zachary, Ava and Ian; mother Grace Teunissen; brothers: Gary (Tammy) Teunissen, and Curt Teunissen; sisters: Linda (Doug) Richarz and Judy (Dennis) Smit; sisters-in-law: Mary (Don) Krommendyk, and Marlys (Jerry) De Groot; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Corney Teunissen; father-in-law Anthony Smit and mother-in-law Wilmina Smit; and her grandparents.
