Bruce E. Baker, age 85, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frank and Alta Baker.
Bruce was married to Charlotte M. Baker for 61 years and their adventures with one another took them on trips across the world, including 48 of the 50 states.
Bruce had 2 daughters, Kelly Baker of Tucson, Arizona, and Barbra Baker of Omaha, Nebraska. He was grandfather to Callie Hike and Great Grandfather to Lilian and Charlotte Boyles, of Omaha, Nebraska. He was better known to his girls as GGPA. He loved all his girls dearly.
Bruce was a teacher and Industrial Engineer during his professional career. He was VP of Distribution for the former Richman Gordman Stores of Omaha.
Talented in many ways, during retirement, he participated in wood carving, jewelry arts and was a Ham Radio Operator. A ceremony was held in his honor on January 14, 2025, where his call sign, W0BEB (Whiskey Zero Bravo Echo Bravo) was retired. He is now known as a Silent Key.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Braman Mortuary, 6505 S. 144th Street, Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served.
The family will be forwarding all memorials to the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League) Education Fund.
