Brian Shinrock

May 7, 1938 — November 19, 2018

SHINROCK, Brian L. 5/7/1938 – 11/19/2018 Brian was born in Omaha in 1938 to Fredrick and Mae Shinrock and was the youngest of 4 children. Brian lived an amazing life; he was a U.S.M.C Veteran, retired from M.U.D. after 40 years of service, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Brian is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 58 years; 3 daughters, Teri (Jim) Teutsch of Fremont, Lori (Dan) Fallon of Elkhorn, and Jodi (Todd) Vermilyea of Carter Lake; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Russ Swigart; brother, Fred (Nancy K.) Shinrock; and sister, Iris Wilson. Brian was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Swigart and brother-in-law, Phillip Wilson. Brian was a very proud graduate of Omaha North High School in 1956. After graduation, Brian joined the United States Marine Corps and served our country for 2 years.A year later, he met the woman of his dreams at Shadda’s Drive-In, which was Nancy’s first night in town.It was love at first sight and they were inseparable.Nancy and Brian married soon after on May 21, 1960 and they started their family ten months later. Brian loved his girls and supported them unconditional, but jokingly complained about being the only boy. When the grandkids started to come, instantaneously they warmed his heart. He was a very loving and supportive grandpa. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and would give pointers when he thought necessary, including throwing balls to the face to teach them to keep their gloves up when catching. He stepped up to the role of “father figure” to 2 of his granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughter. Together, Brian and Nancy taught them the Word of the Lord and supported and guided them. Brian lived a full life. While we wish it could have been longer, he told us several times he can die now that he got to see his Cubby’s win the World Series.
