Bonnie Hood Boone

October 6, 1939 - February 16, 2023

Bonnie was born on October 6, 1939, in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, to Carl and Emily Runge. She was raised in a faithful Christian home and was the middle sister to Emily and Beth. Their family moved several times while Bonnie was young; she attended schools in Wisconsin, California and Nebraska. As a child, Bonnie was reserved, but she became skilled at making new friends in each place they lived. She enjoyed school dances and even participated on a televised teen dance show. In 1957, Bonnie graduated from North High School in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bonnie and Allan began dating in the spring of 1956. They were engaged the following year and married on November 1, 1957. Over the next eight years, Al and Bonnie were blessed to welcome Michele, Richard, Ronald and Matthew. Bonnie stayed home to raise their children and support her husband. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to their extended family. Later, Bonnie fulfilled her desire to become a nurse and also enjoyed being a docent at Henry Doorly Zoo for over 25 years.

Bonnie was an active member of the church (Covenant Presbyterian and Three Timbers), where she served in a variety of roles. She was a participant and leader of Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study for many years. She supported the Healing Kadi Foundation and traveled to South Sudan to share her faith in Jesus Christ.

Over the years, Al and Bonnie were fortunate to travel the world. She relished new adventures but always loved returning home. She was an avid gardener, quilter and reader. Bonnie was generous and kind, funny and compassionate. She wanted her family and friends to know she loved them, and she hoped her actions and words revealed her faith and love of the Lord.

Bonnie passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, with her husband at her side. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Allan, of Omaha; her children Michele (Alan) Schmidt of Blue Hill, Nebraska, Richard (Ginger) Boone of Omaha, Ronald Boone of Stilwell, Kansas, and Matthew Boone of Omaha; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

Memorials can be made in Bonnie's name to the Open Door Mission or the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo .

Visitation will be held 5pm to 7pm, Monday February 27, 2023. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 28, 2023 both at Braman Mortuary Southwest Chapel
