Bernita passed away peacefully at Brookestone Village in Omaha, NE on October 21, 2023 with loving care from Brookestone staff and Angels Care Hospice.
Bernita was born on June 16,1934 in Rowley, Iowa, the daughter of Perry and Josephine (Miller) Sloan. Bernita married Stanley (Stan) Ramstad at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa on May 24, 1953. The couple raised their three children in Cedar Falls, Iowa in the home they built and lived in for sixty years. Bernita loved garage sales, walking three miles every day and coffee with her neighbors. Bernita and Stan attended Nazareth Lutheran Church, where they were members for most of their adult life and where all three of their children were confirmed. During her time at Brookestone Village Bernita looked forward to visits from her great-children, became a pro at Bingo, flower arranging, feeding the ducks and participating in weekly church service.
Bernita is survived by her brother Larry (Lois) Sloan, three children: Deb (Paul) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, Diane Ramstad of Austin, Texas, and Ron (Peg) Ramstad of Evergreen, Colorado; eight grandchildren: Katie (Luke) Stater, Nicole Johnson, Erin (Jeremiah) Todd, Keil (Caitlin) Luber, Kierstin (Tyler) Morse, Erik Ramstad and Monica Ramstad; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Stan; granddaughter Meagan Luber, her parents; sisters Wanda Sloan, Sharon Sloan, Vanda (Brian) Hovey, and Beverly (Dean) Albert.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will take place on Friday, October 27th at 2:00pm at Brookestone Village (4330 S. 144 St. Omaha, NE). In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookestone Village.
