Becky Kathryn McMahon passed away on Tuesday, November 19th at the age of 62 after a battle with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Becky was a resident of Gretna, Nebraska and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Becky was born on February 9th, 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska to Donna and Ernest Biede. Becky was the second youngest of ten siblings: Barbra Harrris, Robert Biede, Beverly Rockford, William Biede, Bert Biede, Betty Smith, Bernie Biede, Barry Biede, and Brenda Biede. She was especially close to her cousin Ollie and spent much of her childhood having sleepovers and movie nights together. Becky attended Longfellow Kindergarten in Council Bluffs, Iowa, St. Francis Catholic School in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Ashland Public Schools in Ashland, Nebaska from grades five through twelve. During her time in Ashland, Becky was a talented athlete competing in softball, volleyball, basketball, and as a member of the track team. She loved driving around, spending time with friends, and her English and History courses. Becky also attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and during this time she shared an apartment with her sister, Brenda. They shared a dog Pokey and loved him enough to include his in their Christmas card one year. Becky was married to her husband Patrick Michael McMahon on August 22nd 1981 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gretna, Nebraska. The couple had three children: Ryan, Drew, and Meghan. Becky was an avid reader and a fanatical Yankees fan, a trait she shared with several of her siblings and instilled in her son, Drew. The family’s life was heavily centered around sports. Becky spent much of her time coaching her kids on various teams and attending their games. Becky is survived by her husband Mike. Her children Ryan McMahon and his wife Janae, Drew McMahon, and Meghan Robeson and her husband Jared and her grandchildren Allison Robeson, Amelia McMahon and Henry Robeson. Becky was a phenomenal wife and mother but an even better grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and her absence will be felt forever. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Sunday, November 24th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.followed by a vigil to begin at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, November 25th at St. Patrick’s beginning at 10 A.M.
